Game Lead, New Games

23.04.2024 Game Leadership Permanent Open position Apply here
Rovio is part of the SEGA family and world famous for our flagship IP Angry Birds - want to know more about Rovio as an employer? Click here.

Our Stockholm studio has built one of the largest comebacks in the gaming industry - Angry Birds 2 and has their sights set on showing the world another hit title. We are constantly investing in new games and look to expand our portfolio with a new product.

We are now looking for a Game Lead to join our incubation team in Stockholm, Sweden, bring your deeper player and market understanding and become the creative multiplier driving a strong pipeline of new game ideas. Making games is hard, making successful games is even harder and you have our full support to experiment and a portfolio of great IPs to work with.

To succeed in this role, you are on top of the market trends, you understand that constant testing and exploration is needed, and you know how to craft a strong vision and lead the team towards it. You are a master of finding and discarding new ideas, you are no stranger to building stuff in Unity, while acting as a business savvy leader who understands what excites the players.

Not in Sweden? We provide relocation support.

You will have impact and fun at work by:

  • Defining, setting and driving the product vision, strategy and timeline
  • Being responsible for communicating and pitching your game ideas to Rovio leadership
  • Leading the incubation team from conceptualization to production to release and beyond
  • Developing and coaching a dedicated game team
  • Being responsible for the product’s P&L

Experience and skills we are looking for:

  • Track record in launching a casual mobile game from 0 to 1 and growing it further
  • Experience working in R&D and incubation teams
  • Experience crafting and leading a game vision
  • Excellent knowledge of the live mobile F2P market and current trends
  • Clear understanding of the business of making mobile games (UA, etc.)
  • Proven success in leadership: building balanced, inclusive, business oriented teams
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English

Interview process.

First meeting: A short call with a TA Partner to talk about the specifics of the role and your past work experience.
Hiring Manager Interview: A meeting with the Head of Studio to discuss your skills and background. We want to learn what motivates you and hear your success (and fail) stories.
Second round: A meeting with Product and Design peers from Rovio to dive deeper into your business skills, F2P market knowledge and leadership.
Final round: A meeting with the larger game team and colleagues from other Rovio studios. Our aim is to get a clear overview of your leadership skills, how you can contribute to our studio, and where we can help you develop.

We cannot wait to get to know you and build cool things together! Please send your CV in English.
